There are several options you can choose to get
to your

FLYING INTO MERIDA
1. If you fly into the
Merida airport (MID) the house is approximately 40 minutes away by car. The
airport is very, very small. The locals are very friendly and extremely
helpful. No stress here!!!! There are rental car companies right inside
the Merida airport. You could take a taxi to the house for approximately $500
pesos ($50 USD), but we highly recommend renting a car. Having a car will make
your stay just that much more enjoyable!

HOUR DRIVE
2. If you fly into Cancun,
you can rent a car and drive the 4 hour drive to your vacation house. If you are
renting a car you do not have to worry since all the car rental companies are in
the Cancun Airport (CUN). Ask for a map. The drive is safe and easy. There are
many rental car companies to choose from at the airport. We have done this and
enjoyed it immensely in that we were able to stop for lunch, sight see along the
way and get a good taste of the Yucatan country side. It is a pretty straight
forward drive and almost impossible to get lost. There are 2 tolls that we know
of presently. The cost may vary some, but usually no more than $450 pesos ($45
USD). The roads are marked very clearly.
BUS TRAVEL FROM CANCUN: 4 HOUR TRAVEL
3. If you are taking the
bus to Merida, you will purchase your bus tickets while in the airport. The
first bus will take you from the airport to the main bus station for
approximately $30 pesos($3 usd). This bus runs every 30 minutes. Once you
are at the main bus station in downtown Cancun, there are different bus lines to
choose from. We recommend UNO, that is the luxury bus for $370 pesos ($35usd).
The bus offers fully reclining seats, drinks, snacks, pillows, movies, etc.
Very nice! Another busline is ADO GL (it runs every hour to and
from Merida) for $260 pesos ($25usd). Check the websites, as information
may change.

We have ridden both and
prefer the Uno for the few extra pesos. However, the Ado bus line is just as
clean and comfortable. Then from Merida, you can rent a car and drive the 40
minutes to the house or catch a taxi to the house for approximately $50. We
recommend renting a car. Having a car will make your time there just that much
more enjoyable!
On your way to your vacation home, you might want to stop in Progresso (20
minutes from away) to purchase groceries and other necessities. There is a
large store similar to Walmart on the way. We always stop there to make sure we
get what we need to have a great vacation. (The fresh baked good are
delicious!!)
Any option you choose, the
driving and roads are very nice and pleasant. Basically, a straight shot
and a very easy drive.
